Dual Trigger Protocol

Meaning

The Dual Trigger Protocol is a specialized clinical strategy utilized in assisted reproductive technology (ART), specifically during in vitro fertilization (IVF), involving the co-administration of two distinct hormonal agents to induce final oocyte maturation. This method typically combines a Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone agonist (GnRH-a) with human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) to stimulate a more comprehensive and physiologically relevant surge of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). The goal is to optimize the quantity and quality of mature oocytes retrieved, particularly in patients who exhibit a suboptimal response to traditional hCG-only triggers.
