Drug-Supplement Interaction

Meaning

A Drug-Supplement Interaction occurs when the physiological effects of a prescribed medication are altered by the concurrent use of a dietary supplement, or conversely, when a supplement’s action is modified by a pharmaceutical agent. This alteration can manifest as an increase or decrease in the drug’s therapeutic effect, an enhancement of its adverse reactions, or the creation of new, unintended physiological responses within the body.
