Drug Registration

Meaning

Drug Registration is the formal, legally mandated process by which a pharmaceutical company or sponsor submits a comprehensive data package to a national regulatory authority, such as the FDA or EMA, to obtain authorization to market and sell a new drug product for human use. This extensive submission, known as a New Drug Application (NDA) or similar, must conclusively demonstrate the drug’s quality, efficacy, and safety profile based on rigorous preclinical and clinical trial data. It represents the final, crucial step before a drug becomes available for prescription.
