Drug Affinity Complex (DAC)

Meaning

Drug Affinity Complex, or DAC, represents a specialized molecular modification technology applied to therapeutic peptides to significantly enhance their pharmacokinetic properties. This is achieved by incorporating a chemical linker onto the peptide structure, enabling a high-affinity, non-covalent, or covalent bond with a circulating plasma protein, typically serum albumin. The resulting complex is designed to protect the active drug from rapid enzymatic degradation and renal clearance. This technology transforms short-acting peptide hormones into long-acting therapeutic agents, allowing for less frequent dosing.
