Drug Affinity Complex

Meaning

A Drug Affinity Complex, or DAC, is a pharmaceutical technology designed to prolong the half-life and duration of action of therapeutic peptides or proteins within the body. This is achieved by covalently or non-covalently binding the drug molecule to circulating proteins, typically albumin, in the bloodstream. The resulting complex slows down renal clearance and enzymatic degradation, allowing for less frequent dosing and enhanced patient adherence.
