Doxorubicin

Meaning

Doxorubicin is a potent, widely utilized anthracycline antibiotic that serves as a cornerstone chemotherapeutic agent for treating various solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, including many forms of breast and ovarian cancer. Despite its efficacy, its clinical utility is fundamentally constrained by its dose-dependent and progressive cardiotoxicity. This adverse effect can lead to severe cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure in cancer survivors.
