Diluent Properties

Meaning

Diluent properties refer to the specific physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of an inert substance used to dissolve, suspend, or dilute an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to a specific concentration or volume. These properties are critical for ensuring the stability, solubility, sterility, and injectability of the final drug product, especially for parenteral (injectable) formulations in hormonal therapy. A well-chosen diluent must be pharmacologically safe, chemically compatible with the API, and appropriate for the administration route.
