Dihydrotestosterone Reduction

Meaning

Dihydrotestosterone reduction is the therapeutic or physiological process of decreasing the concentration or biological activity of the potent androgen, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), within the body’s tissues. This clinical strategy is often employed to manage androgen-sensitive conditions, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), and certain forms of prostate cancer. Effective reduction of DHT is achieved by interfering with the enzymatic conversion pathway from testosterone.
