Diabetogenic Hyperinsulinemia

Meaning

Diabetogenic hyperinsulinemia describes a physiological state where elevated circulating insulin levels paradoxically contribute to impaired glucose tolerance and the development of type 2 diabetes. This condition reflects the body’s initial compensatory response to cellular insulin resistance, with pancreatic beta cells secreting more insulin to maintain normal blood glucose. Sustained high insulin exposure can exacerbate metabolic dysfunction.
