DHT Modulation

Meaning

The clinical or physiological process of regulating the concentration and biological activity of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a potent androgen derived from Testosterone via the enzyme 5-alpha reductase. Modulation strategies aim to balance DHT’s beneficial effects, such as on libido and mood, against its potential adverse effects, including androgenic alopecia and benign prostatic hyperplasia. This management is a common consideration in androgen replacement therapy.
