DHEA-S Concentration

Meaning

DHEA-S Concentration refers to the measurable quantity of Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate, the most abundant circulating steroid hormone, present in the serum or plasma. As a sulfated metabolite, DHEA-S is highly stable and exhibits a long half-life, making its concentration an excellent and reliable clinical biomarker for the functional status of the adrenal cortex and overall adrenal reserve. Chronically declining DHEA-S levels are a common, measurable correlate of biological aging and are often associated with reductions in vitality and immune function.
