DHEA Decline

Meaning

DHEA Decline describes the natural, progressive, age-related reduction in the circulating levels of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its sulfated form, DHEA-S, which are the most abundant circulating adrenal steroids and precursors to sex hormones. This physiological decrease, often referred to as adrenopause, typically begins around the third decade of life and is a recognized marker of biological aging. Clinically, this decline is associated with observable changes in body composition, bone density, immune function, and overall vitality, impacting the entire hormonal equilibrium.
