Detoxification Protocols

Meaning

Detoxification protocols, within the scope of hormonal health and clinical nutrition, refer to structured, multi-faceted dietary and supplemental regimens designed to enhance the liver’s capacity to metabolize and excr ete endogenous and exogenous compounds, particularly excess or spent hormones and environmental endocrine disruptors. These protocols often emphasize specific nutrients and phytochemicals that support the Phase I (oxidation) and Phase II (conjugation) enzyme systems of hepatic clearance. The clinical goal is to optimize the clearance of metabolites like estrogen, cortisol, and xenobiotics to restore hormonal equilibrium and reduce systemic toxic burden. They are not intended to replace the body’s natural, continuous detoxification processes but to augment them.
