Desire Deficits

Meaning

Desire Deficits describe a clinical presentation characterized by a significant reduction or absence of sexual interest, motivation, or desire, causing marked distress to the individual. This is often categorized as Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) or, more recently, as a component of Female Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder (FSIAD). These deficits are frequently multi-factorial, stemming from an intricate interplay of hormonal imbalances, psychological factors, relationship dynamics, and underlying medical conditions. A thorough clinical evaluation is necessary to distinguish between transient low desire and a persistent, clinically significant deficit requiring intervention.
