Dermal Regeneration

Meaning

Dermal regeneration is the complex biological process of restoring the dermis, the inner structural layer of the skin, to its original functional and structural integrity following injury or as part of natural aging reversal. This vital process necessitates the complete repair of the extracellular matrix, the proliferation and migration of dermal fibroblasts, and the robust synthesis of key structural proteins, primarily collagen and elastin. Successful regeneration is clinically characterized by the formation of functional tissue with minimal or absent scar formation and the full re-establishment of mechanical strength and barrier function.
