Deep Stage Sleep

Meaning

Deep Stage Sleep, clinically termed Slow-Wave Sleep (SWS) or NREM Stage 3, represents the most profoundly restorative phase of the sleep cycle, characterized by the lowest frequency and highest amplitude brain waves (delta waves). Physiologically, this stage is marked by the deepest relaxation, minimal muscle tone, and a significant decrease in heart rate and respiration. It is fundamentally important for physical restoration, metabolic regulation, and the release of anabolic hormones.
