Cyclic Progesterone Therapy

Meaning

Cyclic Progesterone Therapy (CPT) is a hormone treatment regimen characterized by the administration of progesterone or a progestogen for a limited number of days each month, typically 10 to 14 days, followed by a treatment-free interval. This pattern mimics the natural luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, contrasting with continuous daily dosing. CPT is clinically utilized to induce a withdrawal bleed in women with an intact uterus, primarily to prevent endometrial hyperplasia and maintain a predictable menstrual pattern.
