Cortisol-Sparing Secretagogues

Meaning

A class of pharmacological or nutraceutical agents designed to stimulate the release of beneficial anabolic hormones, such as Growth Hormone (GH) or Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), without concurrently elevating or excessively stimulating the catabolic stress hormone cortisol. The clinical objective is to maximize the regenerative and tissue-repairing effects of the anabolic axis while avoiding the detrimental systemic consequences of chronic cortisol elevation. This selective action is highly valued in longevity and restorative medicine protocols.
