Cortisol Overload

Meaning

Cortisol Overload is a state of chronic hypercortisolemia, characterized by persistently and pathologically elevated levels of the glucocorticoid hormone cortisol circulating in the bloodstream or tissues over a sustained duration. This condition transcends the normal, adaptive acute stress response, representing a sustained hormonal imbalance that saturates cellular receptors and severely disrupts systemic homeostasis. Clinically, this state is associated with adverse health consequences, including immune system dysregulation, central fat deposition, and accelerated metabolic syndrome risk.
