Cortisol Levels

Meaning

Cortisol Levels refer to the circulating concentrations of the primary glucocorticoid hormone produced by the adrenal cortex, central to the body’s stress response and metabolic regulation. Measurement, often via saliva or serum assays, tracks the dynamic output of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis. Chronically elevated or profoundly suppressed levels indicate significant endocrine dysregulation impacting immunity and glucose homeostasis. We interpret these levels within the context of diurnal rhythm.
