Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone

Meaning

Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone (CRH) is a neurohormone primarily produced by the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus. It initiates the body’s adaptive stress response by stimulating adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) release from the anterior pituitary. This peptide centrally regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, a key neuroendocrine system.
