Corporate Wellness Stress

Meaning

Corporate Wellness Stress refers to the collective physiological and psychological burden experienced by employees that arises from the design, implementation, or perceived invasiveness of workplace wellness programs. While these programs intend to mitigate occupational stress and improve health, poorly conceived initiatives can inadvertently introduce new stressors, such as performance pressure related to health metrics or concerns about data privacy. This phenomenon can activate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, leading to chronic cortisol elevation and counteracting the intended health benefits. It represents a critical paradox in organizational health initiatives.
