Coronary Revascularization

Meaning

Coronary revascularization is a clinical intervention aimed at restoring adequate blood flow, or perfusion, to areas of the heart muscle that have been compromised by blockages in the coronary arteries. This procedure is a critical therapeutic strategy for managing symptomatic coronary artery disease and preventing myocardial infarction. The two primary approaches are percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass grafting. This restoration of blood supply is vital for preserving cardiac function and improving patient longevity.
