Coronary Artery Disease

Meaning

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a clinical condition characterized by the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, which supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle, typically caused by atherosclerosis. This progressive pathology is the leading cause of heart attacks and is closely linked to chronic systemic inflammation, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. In the hormonal health space, CAD risk is profoundly influenced by sex hormone status, particularly the decline of estrogen in women and testosterone in men, which modulate vascular integrity and lipid profiles.
