Corepressor Proteins

A class of proteins that interact with nuclear receptors, such as thyroid hormone receptors or steroid hormone receptors, to inhibit the transcription of target genes in the absence of the corresponding hormone ligand. These proteins are crucial components of the molecular machinery that regulates gene expression in response to endocrine signals. They maintain a state of transcriptional repression, ensuring that genes are only activated when the appropriate hormonal signal is present. Dysregulation of these corepressors can lead to significant hormonal resistance or imbalance.
