Core Body Temperature Regulation

Meaning

Core Body Temperature Regulation, or thermoregulation, is the homeostatic process by which the human body maintains its internal temperature within a narrow, optimal range, primarily managed by the hypothalamus. This physiological stability is inextricably linked to circadian rhythm and sleep quality, as a slight drop in core temperature is a necessary signal for sleep onset and the subsequent nocturnal release of key hormones. Dysfunction in this system can indicate endocrine imbalance or compromise the restorative phases of sleep.
