Copeptin Biomarker

Meaning

Copeptin is a clinically relevant peptide fragment that serves as a stable and quantifiable surrogate biomarker for the release of arginine vasopressin (AVP), also known as Antidiuretic Hormone (ADH). Because AVP itself is highly unstable in plasma and difficult to measure accurately, copeptin provides a reliable real-time indicator of the body’s osmoregulatory and hemodynamic stress response. Its concentration is often assessed in the context of fluid balance disorders and cardiovascular health.
