Continuous Suppression

Meaning

Continuous suppression, in an endocrinological context, describes the sustained pharmacological inhibition of a specific hormonal axis or the chronic downregulation of target organ function. This therapeutic strategy aims to maintain a consistently low level of certain endogenous hormones or signaling molecules. It is often employed to manage hormone-sensitive conditions, such as certain cancers or endometriosis, by eliminating the trophic stimulus.
