Contamination Hazards

Meaning

The significant risks to patient safety and therapeutic efficacy arising from the unintentional introduction of extraneous, undesirable substances into a pharmaceutical or compounded preparation. These hazards can include microbial organisms, pyrogens, heavy metals, undeclared excipients, or cross-contamination from other active pharmaceutical ingredients during the manufacturing process. Such contamination directly compromises the sterility, purity, and safety profile of the final hormonal product.
