Connective Tissue Adaptation

Meaning

This describes the dynamic, biologically driven process by which tissues such as tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and the dermal matrix structurally and compositionally respond to mechanical, hormonal, and metabolic stimuli. Adaptation is the physiological process of remodeling the extracellular matrix, primarily involving collagen and elastin turnover, to enhance strength, resilience, and elasticity. In the context of hormonal health, this process is profoundly influenced by anabolic hormones like testosterone and growth hormone.
