Conjugated Equine Estrogens (CEE)

Meaning

Conjugated Equine Estrogens (CEE) represent a pharmaceutical formulation of estrogens derived from the urine of pregnant mares, containing a complex mixture of various estrogenic compounds, predominantly as water-soluble sulfates. This medication is clinically prescribed as a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to alleviate moderate to severe menopausal symptoms, including debilitating vasomotor instability and urogenital atrophy. CEE is pharmacologically distinct from bioidentical human estradiol due to its unique and diverse chemical profile.
