Comorbidities

Meaning

Comorbidities are defined as the simultaneous presence of two or more distinct medical conditions or diseases in a patient, occurring either concurrently with a primary diagnosis or independently of it. The presence of these coexisting conditions complicates the clinical presentation, diagnosis, prognosis, and overall management of the individual’s health status. Effective clinical practice requires a holistic consideration of the interplay between all presenting ailments.
