Combined HRT

Meaning

Combined Hormone Replacement Therapy (Combined HRT) is a clinical regimen involving the simultaneous administration of two distinct types of hormones, typically an estrogen and a progestogen, to manage menopausal symptoms and prevent long-term health sequelae. This approach is specifically indicated for women who still possess a uterus, as the progestogen component is included to mitigate the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer associated with unopposed estrogen. It represents a foundational therapeutic strategy for restoring endocrine balance in the perimenopausal and postmenopausal phases.
