Cognitive Modulation

Meaning

Cognitive modulation is the clinical and physiological process of adjusting the efficiency and output of an individual’s mental processes, which includes attention, working memory, executive function, and emotional stability. This regulation is achieved by influencing the neurochemical environment and structural integrity of the central nervous system. Hormonal balance, particularly that of sex steroids and thyroid hormones, serves as a primary endogenous modulator of these complex neural activities.
