Coercive Stress

Meaning

Coercive Stress refers to a state of sustained physiological and psychological duress resulting from external pressures where an individual perceives a significant lack of control over their circumstances. This involuntary imposition of demands often involves manipulation or intimidation, leading to a chronic activation of the body’s stress response systems. It distinctly differs from self-imposed or transient stressors by its persistent, externally driven nature, directly compromising personal autonomy and well-being.
