Cmax

Meaning

Cmax, or maximum concentration, is a fundamental pharmacokinetic parameter representing the highest concentration a drug or hormone achieves in the systemic circulation, typically in the plasma, after a single dose or at steady state in a repeated dosing regimen. This peak level is a crucial indicator for clinicians, as it reflects the point of maximum systemic exposure and thus the likely peak of both therapeutic efficacy and potential short-term side effects. It is measured at a corresponding time point known as Tmax, or time to maximum concentration.
