Clomiphene Resistance

Meaning

Clomiphene resistance is a clinical condition in reproductive endocrinology defined by the failure of a patient to ovulate following the administration of the maximum recommended dose of Clomiphene Citrate (CC) during a specified number of treatment cycles. This diagnosis is typically applied to anovulatory women, most commonly those with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), who do not achieve a therapeutic response to this first-line fertility drug. It represents a significant clinical challenge, necessitating the exploration of alternative ovulation induction strategies.
