Clinical Proxy Measurement

Meaning

A quantifiable biological or physiological marker that, while not directly measuring the primary clinical outcome of interest, serves as a reliable and accessible substitute indicator. In endocrinology, these measurements are frequently used to non-invasively track the efficacy of an intervention or to infer the status of a deeper, more complex biological process that is difficult to measure directly. They provide actionable, real-time feedback on systemic health trends.
