Circulating MicroRNAs

Meaning

Circulating MicroRNAs are small, non-coding RNA molecules, typically 18-25 nucleotides in length, that are found freely within various bodily fluids such as blood, urine, saliva, and cerebrospinal fluid. These molecules do not code for proteins but instead play a crucial role in post-transcriptional gene regulation by binding to messenger RNA molecules, thereby influencing protein synthesis and cellular processes.
