Circadian Cadence

Meaning

Circadian Cadence refers to the precisely timed, approximately 24-hour rhythmic pattern of biological processes and behavioral states, intrinsically regulated by the body’s master clock, the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). This internal rhythm dictates the optimal timing for numerous physiological functions, including the sleep-wake cycle, core body temperature fluctuations, and, critically, the pulsatile secretion of key hormones like cortisol and melatonin. Maintaining a stable Circadian Cadence is essential for metabolic health, cognitive function, and the effective operation of the entire endocrine system. Disruption of this cadence is clinically recognized as a driver of chronic disease and accelerated aging.
