Circadian Anchor

Meaning

A Circadian Anchor refers to any external cue or stimulus that helps to align and maintain the body’s internal biological clock, known as the circadian rhythm, with the 24-hour day-night cycle. These cues, also termed “zeitgebers,” are critical for synchronizing physiological processes and behaviors to environmental time. The most prominent anchor is light, but others include food intake timing, physical activity, and social interactions.
