Chronobiological Recalibration

Meaning

Chronobiological recalibration refers to the intentional adjustment or resetting of the body’s endogenous circadian rhythms to align with external environmental cues, known as zeitgebers. This process involves shifting the timing of internal biological clocks, primarily regulated by the suprachiasmatic nucleus, to achieve synchronization with the prevailing light-dark cycle and social schedules. Effective recalibration aims to optimize physiological processes that exhibit daily periodicity, including sleep-wake cycles, hormone secretion, and metabolic function.
