Chrono-Disruption

Meaning

Chrono-disruption, in a clinical context, refers to a misalignment or perturbation of the body’s intrinsic circadian rhythms, the approximately 24-hour cycles that regulate nearly all aspects of human physiology and behavior. This fundamental desynchronization can be caused by external factors such as shift work, chronic jet lag, or inconsistent light exposure, leading to internal conflict between the master clock in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) and peripheral clocks in organs like the liver and adrenals. The resultant biological chaos significantly compromises metabolic and hormonal health, disrupting the precise timing required for optimal bodily function.
