Chronic Pelvic Pain

Meaning

Chronic Pelvic Pain (CPP) is defined as persistent, non-cyclic pain in the lower abdomen and pelvis lasting for six months or longer, significantly impacting a patient’s functional capacity and well-being. This complex syndrome is often multifactorial, involving gynecological, urological, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, and neurological components, making accurate diagnosis challenging. Hormonal imbalances, particularly those related to the menstrual cycle or endometriosis, frequently contribute to the underlying pathophysiology.
