Chronic Inflammation Mechanisms

Meaning

Chronic Inflammation Mechanisms refer to the persistent, dysregulated, and low-grade activation of the innate immune system that fails to resolve, leading to continuous tissue damage and contributing to the etiology of numerous non-communicable diseases. Unlike acute inflammation, this state is characterized by the sustained presence of immune cells and the continuous release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, often without a clear or resolved pathogen. This systemic immune dysfunction is a core process in biological aging.
