Chiral Impurities

Meaning

Chiral impurities refer to unintended or undesired stereoisomers present within a preparation of a specific chiral compound. These are molecules that possess non-superimposable mirror images, much like a person’s left and right hands, and an impurity is simply the presence of the unwanted mirror-image form, or enantiomer, alongside the desired therapeutic molecule.
