Cerebrovascular Events

Meaning

Cerebrovascular Events, commonly referred to as strokes, are clinical occurrences resulting from an interruption of blood supply to a region of the brain, leading to neuronal cell death and subsequent neurological deficit. These events are broadly categorized as ischemic, caused by vascular occlusion, or hemorrhagic, caused by vessel rupture. The endocrine system is intrinsically linked to cerebrovascular risk, as hormonal imbalances, particularly those involving estrogen, testosterone, and cortisol, influence vascular integrity, coagulation, and systemic blood pressure regulation.
