Central Precocious Puberty

Meaning

Central Precocious Puberty (CPP) is a clinical condition defined by the premature activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, leading to the development of secondary sexual characteristics significantly earlier than the typical age of onset. This endocrine disorder is characterized by pubertal changes that follow the normal physiological sequence but occur before age eight in girls and age nine in boys. Early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention are critical to mitigate potential issues with final adult height and psychosocial development.
