Central Command Attenuation

Meaning

A state of diminished functional output or reduced sensitivity within the primary neuroendocrine regulatory centers, most notably the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. This attenuation represents a blunting of the body’s central ability to initiate, coordinate, and precisely regulate the release of trophic hormones that govern peripheral endocrine glands. It results in a reduced amplitude or frequency of critical hormonal pulses, impacting systemic homeostasis.
