Cellular Senescence Reduction

Meaning

Cellular Senescence Reduction is a targeted biological strategy focused on diminishing the population of senescent cells, often termed “zombie cells,” which accumulate with age and contribute to tissue dysfunction and chronic inflammation. Senescent cells are characterized by a permanent cell cycle arrest and the secretion of a harmful senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which negatively impacts surrounding healthy tissue. The clinical objective is to selectively clear these non-dividing cells to rejuvenate the tissue microenvironment and improve overall physiological function. This intervention is a cornerstone of modern longevity science.
